Reference project
Kyle Cottage is a renovated stone house, created as part of the ambitious Wildland conservation project, to surrender to nature by restoring, protecting, and preserving thousands of acres of land across the Scottish Highlands.
With its remote location in the rolling Scottish landscape, one can enjoy a secluded life at one's own pace. The otherwise abandoned house has been transformed with excellent intent. Materials that mirror the surrounding nature set the tone and reflect a longing for peace and tranquility. The house is carefully curated with selected elements, surrounded by oak-clad walls, and features an open-plan layout.
The oak kitchen is equipped with a burnished SP fixture, built into the wall and placed on a similarly burnished brass plate. It thus forms a focal point, and together the natural surfaces are well-balanced in brown shades, creating contrast and synergy at the same time.
Through the heavy front door, one is met by the kitchen, made of Danish oak, and a living room full of historical design. Both the kitchen and the living room offer a fantastic view of the surrounding landscape. Next to the wood-burning stove, through the living room's large window, there is a view of the Kyle of Tongue lake. While from the kitchen counter, one can enjoy coffee with a view of Ben Loyal - the mountain often called "The Queen of the Highlands".
