In 1935, Sparre-Petersen, an engineer and machine technician at Gentofte Hospital saw a need to develop a robust and maintenance-free fitting that could withstand heavy pressure. The final result was a series of high-arc taps built in a traditional crafted style and intended for hospitals, institutions, industrial complexes and other places where taps must withstand very heavy loads. Since then, the SP has been called both the ‘industrial fitting’ and the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of taps with its classical design, elegant form and near-indestructible quality. It has been used worldwide for decades for everything from hospitals to embassies to private homes – becoming a much loved, classic addition to traditional Danish interiors.
